The laziness stems primarily because of the scale of the series being so vast that I know that even a mere overview/review of the entire series would require a considerable investment of time and energy from my part to do the bare minimum justice to this epic piece of work. Just thinking of writing an intermediate overview kind of post about this series makes me feel slightly overwhelmed and….lazy. ‘This’ being what I thought and loved about the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. So, despite finishing (only) eight out of ten of the books so far, I thought I’ll start writing about this whether I finish it or not. But knowing myself, it would become one of those things that I’ll get to at some unidentified point in the future if I wait a couple more months to write. It’s been on my mind to write a “Grand Review” of the series once I finish it (hopefully in a month or two). One of the most happiness inducing highlights was the Malazan Book of the Fallen series, which had been on my To Be Read list for a couple of years, and that I finally picked up halfway through this one. Inevitably thoughts turned to the books I read in 2021. (My one line journal summary was “What a year, just like every year!”) With the 2021 Spotify Wrapped popping up, I was set on the path of reflecting on the year gone by.
